The Russian label Budkon (BYA KOH) issued flexi discs featuring a large part of Queen’s and Freddie Mercury’s solo repertoire between 1989 and 2001, including tracks that had not appeared as singles. These thin, lightweight discs were produced without an official licence and are therefore classified as unofficial releases. Comparable editions featuring other Western artists also circulated and became familiar to collectors.

Most discs measure approximately six inches square, whereas Bohemian Rhapsody was issued in a seven-inch format. Releases appeared in several colours and were supplied in monochrome picture sleeves, often using low-resolution printed images. Each has a catalogue number on the reverse; in some cases, the same image was reused with a different title.
Some sleeves contain spelling errors or incorrect artist credits, and certain recordings are incomplete. The discs are single-sided, and their sound quality is generally limited by the flexible material and manufacturing process.
