Bootlegs on vinyl (10″, 12″ & LP)
A bootleg is an audio or video recording distributed without an official release by the artist or other rights holder. Such recordings may document live performances, interviews or material from recording sessions.
Bootleg distribution has changed with successive recording and reproduction technologies. Vinyl editions were particularly prominent in the 1970s, while compact cassettes broadened circulation and older recordings were later transferred to CD. Digital audio formats and online file sharing further changed how collectors exchanged recordings, including individual tracks rather than complete concerts. Recording equipment also became more portable, allowing additional performances to be documented. The objects in this section represent the physical editions within that broader history.
